Options Community Services Society requires a temporary Transition House Women’s Support Worker to work at Evergreen Transition House to cover a maternity leave. In order to best meet the needs of the transition house resident, this position is open to female applicants only.
Temporary Full-time Day Shift Position
(Tues – Sat) - 35 hours/week
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in a related field and/or relevant training and experience
Possess an excellent understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence against women and children and the intergenerational impact of abuse
Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures and legislation
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, e.g., cultural, religious, age, class, sexual orientation.
Satisfactory completion of a criminal record search and First Aid certification are requirements of this position
Valid B.C. Driver’s License and satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
Food Safe Certificate an asset
Skills/Experience:
Verbal and written fluency in Punjabi and/or Hindi is a requirement for this position
Ability to organize work and carry out the duties of the position independently and within a team concept
Ability to assess and prioritize client needs
Ability to manage crisis or emergency situations
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
Ability to provide non-judgmental, positive, respectful support
