Hyland HouseWho this program is forThis program is for individuals who are homeless or deemed 'at risk' of becoming homeless. Program ObjectiveShort term supported emergency residential and second stage housing for men and women that are 19 years or older. Program DescriptionHyland House is a 35 bed emergency shelter for homeless men and women. The program offers a number of personal development services to residents including:
In addition to the 35 bed facility there is a 20 unit supported housing component for those individuals who require more support in achieving and maintaining independence. The supported housing component provides individuals with a fully self contained bachelor suite. Rent is 'geared to income'. The length of stay in the supported housing facility will vary depending on the resident's ability to secure and maintain independence.
In the event of cold weather or crisis Hyland House has the capacity to expand to accommodate up to 15 additional beds. Referrals to Hyland House and the Supported Housing are made through the Ministry of Human Resources, Mental Health Centers, community agencies, R.C.M.P. and self-referrals.
