Community and Health Care Interpreter Training (C&HIT) provides bilingual individuals with a full-time skills training to become a Community and Healthcare Interpreter and help bridge the communication barriers among communities.
Program Offers:
- 11 weeks of online learning of employability and occupational skills training.
- 12 weeks of work experience at an organization that matches the participants interests and abilities (including peer mentorship and job search support).
- 2 weeks of follow-up support.
- Possible living allowance
Earn Certificates In:
- Community, Healthcare and Mental Health Interpreting
- De-escalating Potentially Violent Situations Workshop
- Emergency First Aid/CPR Level C
- Basic Counselling - Statement of Completion
Eligibility criteria
- Must be referred by WorkBC
- EI Eligible currently receiving EI or EI Reachback
- Earned more that $2,000 in insurable earnings and paid EI premiums on those earnings in at least 5 of the last 10 years BCDA/BCEA-PWED clients.
- Must have a LINC 8.
