BC Newcomer Services Program (BC NSP)


We are part of the BCIHC Support Program, which provides one-to-one consultation with a Community Worker, to individuals in detention on various matters.

We offer:

• Non-judgmental listening and support in private.
  
• Information about immigration, housing, financial, health, legal aid applications, and other needs.
  
• Help to understand the refugee claim process
  via Ready Tour.
  
• Referral to specialized mental health, LGBTQ+, and other services.
  
• Help to communicate with friends or family.
  
• Referral to the legal clinic for information
  about detention, detention review hearings, and other legal questions.
  

Anyone detained at the Surrey Immigration Holding Centre can access these confidential services and information.
