The BC Safe Haven program offers specialized wrap-around supports for refugee claimants and asylum seekers, as well as limited services for other displaced populations, including refugees and CUAET Visa holders. It helps reduce barriers to accessing services through supports such as childminding, transportation, accommodations for people with disabilities and digital resources. The program provides settlement, immigration and employment support to help clients integrate into their communities and succeed in BC/s labour market, along with access to language training, housing assistance and psycho-social counsellng for eligible individuals.
BC SAFE HAVEN Outcomes: Mitigation of any emergency or urgent situations, successful navigation of immigration process, increase labour market attachment, better integration into community and workplace.

Urgent Response Services
- Supported access to essential needs (shelter, health services and food)
- Assistance during times of crisis
- Supported access to BC Income Assistance and Legal Aid BC
Community Connections & English Language Practices
- In-person and virtual Conversation Circles language classes for beginners and intermediate learners
- Getting to know you community group outings
Settlement & Immigration Services
- Assistance in navigating the refugee claim or appeal process
- Information, orientation and referrals
- Wrap-around Case Management support
- Supported access in applying/renewing work permit applications
Accommodation Services for Refugee Claimants
- Housing search support
- Tenants rights and responsibilities information
Employment & Labour Market Information
- Customized employment counselling
- Job search strategies
- Short-term pre-employment training and supported access to WorkBC services
- Job Fairs and networking events
- Information on workplace rights and responsibilities
Clinical Counselling
- Short-term clinical counselling for adults
- Referrals to mental health support groups
Support Services:
- Bus tickets available for eligible clients when accessing services
- Child-minding support is available to eligible clients when accessing services
- Computer lending library available to attend virtual Refugee Claims
Services offered in: English, Dari, Farsi, Hindi, Pashto, Punjabi, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin and Urdu.
